Drifting Light: Oia Across 30 Years
The quiet beauty and human side of a burgeoning Aegean tourist village captured by one photographer from the mid-1980s to the present day
Lieber’s photographs, considered each on their own particular merit, are the best articulations we’ve seen of the “sublime” elements of this island. This is not a collection of picturesque postcard views of an iconic village. This is a chronicle of a full day and a full generation, of an island that is ordinary, flawed, and extraordinary all at once.
Erik Lieber is a doctor. As a photographer he has been featured in several solo exhibitions in The Netherlands and in the 1990s he founded a gallery of contemporary art. In recent years, his calling to photography has become powerful again.
